History of Cosplay in Manado City

MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – As quoted from Wikipedia, cosplay is a hobby in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character.

It can be said that cosplay is imitating the style of character in cartoons, fairy tales, video games and anime.

Manado city has 11 community cosplay. The are Japannese Fans Club, Harajuku Community, V-Key Lunatic, Cosmo, Cover Club, Kosuken Team, Peko-Peko Club, MINNA (Manado Ichiban No Nihon Anime), Tenshi, Anaza Otaku, dan Toitsu 48.

Regina Fristy Mandang (25) is a cosplayer. She said that, “the first cosplay entry in North Sulawesi are Harajuku, Peko-Peko Club and Kosuken Team in 2009”.

Kosuken was founded in 2009 by the young man from Remboken Village. And this time Kosuken had 70 members.

“Manado Cosplay has followed a lot of activities and competitions. In addition, we could make an event with existing sponsors,” said Regina.
