North Sulawesi Badminton Championship in Tomohon City

MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – North Sulawesi Badminton Championships officially held in Tomohon City, Sunday (26/11/2017). Badminton championship titled as ‘Mayor and Deputy Mayor Cup’ was opened by Tomohon Mayor Jimmy Feidie Eman, and accompanied by Deputy Mayor Syerly Adelyn Sompotan, in the hall of mayor’s official residence.

In his speech while opening the event, Eman said, this event will present the victorious badminton from Tomohon and also North Sulawesi.

“As a Government of Tomohon, of course I support this very prestigious championship, because Badminton is not just a hobby, and this sport often brings the name of Indonesia in the international arena. Beside for health, this championship will greatly affect the progress of badminton sport in Tomohon, North Sulawesi, “said Eman.

He hopes that the championship will result the reliable seeds, and able to take place not only at the local level but also at the national, and so international level. Eman also reminded, that the most important is how the athletes can put the spirit of professionalism and sportsmanship above all the things.

Chairman of Badminton Association of Indonesia in North Sulawesi, Djendri Keintjem who also attended the opening of the championship revealed his pride, badminton athletes world champion are come from North Sulawesi.

“Therefore, we will pursue to practice the badminton athletes in North Sulawesi,” said Djendri.

Meanwhile, Committee Chairman, Noldy Montolalu explained, this championship will be held from 26 to 30 November 2017, and followed by all victors in North Sulawesi.
