RUANG ISLAND AND PASIGE ISLAND

The two islands are located in Tagulandang North Sulawesi. The name of Ruang come from the name of mountain. Ruang is the stratovolcano mountain that contain a partial lava dome at the top, the highest point is 725 m. The last recorded eruption was in 22 September 2002.

Ruang is an active mountain but the origin people could live with the mountain peacefully. There are some activities you can did. Such as, climbing the mountain, especially for the first climber this mountain can be alternative to climb because the mountain is not too high. The other activity is go around the mountain, in some area of this mountain there is some rock from vomit caulk and also the beautiful of the sea can exhausted released.

The near of Ruang has an island that almost flat with the sea. The sea would be seen sink when the sea tide is very high. The name is Pasige island.

Around the island is overgrown mangroves, and the corals that surround it being habitat for species fish. Also this little island is being a home for some species birds.

If you would like to travel the Ruang island and Pasige island, you can stay around the port of Tagulandang. There are some inns with the low cost.

 

TARSIUS TUMPARA

Siau Tagulandang regency have some unique animals that are not known widely. There is even rare owl that searching of researchers. It is Tarsius.

This animal has a small body with strange appear. Tarsius in Siau island is named Tarsius tumpara that endemic to Siau island, so it cannot be found in another place.

Tarsius tumpara is living in Mburake village, especially around the Kapeta lake. If you came in afternoon, you can enjoy the situation around the lake because this Tarsius could be found just only at the night. At the first you will listen the sound of tarsius and then you can observe around. A shrill voice shouts, they will come out. Usually the male will make a sound first, calling his partner. If the couple has a family, their children will also repay the shout. And you will be amazed by the fascinating Tarsius sound concert.

Because Tarsius tumpara is protected animal, so do not bother them by catching and harassing them. This unique animal just lives on the tree.

The size of Tarsius is about 10-15 cm, it is only the size of the body and head. Because tarsius have length foot, so that’s why they have good jumping. They have very long tail, it is about 20 cm with big eyes.

 

BALIRANGENG

Balirangeng is a village in Siau island with a beautiful view of the sea from the hill. When you came in Balirangeng there is a statue that stand on the hill will welcome you.

The Jesus statue in white color dominant becomes a religious icon in Siau. The statue that stands while lifted the hand signify your trip is blessed.

Balirangeng have another tourist site, it is sandy beaches you can get a beautiful view, and also there is best spot photography of Karangetang Volcano mountain that looks great. You can enjoy the beautiful view of sunrise, and in the night you can fishing with the fisherman of Balirangeng.

 

KARANGETANG MOUNTAIN

Karangetang volcano mountain is an icon of Siau. It is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. This mountain has highest 1820 m. In the night the crater would be active into a luminous incandescent of lava marker.

There is some people live under the mountain and also in the middle of mountain. This mountain very often erupts but for the people there it is considered a blessing for them. Volcanic material of spewed Karangetang crater, believed by the residents of Siau as a cultivator of nutmeg.

The people believed the eruption of Karangetang is a sign of decency violation has occurred in the community. That is what the Siau society believe that the eruption is an alarm from rebuke of an immoral act involving the perpetrators of blood.

Around the mountain have some village that can be a spot to take photo of Karangetang mountain.

 

MAHORO ISLAND

Mahoro island is located in Sitaro regency, North Sulawesi province, in scope of Nusa North. This island is very famous of its unique natural, this is because of the nature so enchanting that makes anyone who looked at it will be amazed by its natural beauty.

This island is a small icon within Buhias cluster area, an island with a fascinating sand. Around Mahoro island there is some small islands. Those islands are unpopulated so that why this island is very clean.

Mahoro island located in eastern point of Buhias cluster, so making this island being a fortress for other islands. One side directly faces the ocean makes the waves hit the stone. On the other side is very quite place because in front there is some islands were fence in.

From Mahoro the visitors could enjoy the beautiful view of Karangetang Volcano mountain. Also the best place to enjoying sunset that sank behind several islands in front of Mahoro.

The access to Mahoro island from Manado, the visitors can use boat from Manado port into Ulu Siau Port it is about four hours, and then visitor can hire a speed boat to Mahoro island.

 

BIARO ISLAND

Biaro is located in Siau Tagulandang district, North Sulawesi province. From the seventh wonderful place of sitaro, Biaro is so close with Manado city.

There is information that in certain times in Biaro be a gathering of mammals whales to mate. But the information just rumors that have never been published widely. The near of Biaro becomes favorite fishing are, and also some best spot to dive.

This island has 5 km long coastal beach in white sand and beautiful view. The people in Biaro will welcome every guest kindly. That is why the Sitaro Government makes Biaro as a main destination.

 

LOVE LAKE MAKALEHI (DANAU CINTA)

Love lake is located in Makalehi island, that can be travel by boat from Manado city to Ulu port, from Ulu port next trip to Siau west district by car or motorcycle its about 3 hours needed. And then go to Makalehi island by speed boat, it is about two hours to go.

Makalehi island becomes one of twelve outer islands in North Sulawesi, because the sea line in outer and directly adjacent to Filipina. For the first step in Makalehi you will welcome with sovereignty monument of NKRI, to give sign that Makalehi is frontier.

The lake is located in the middle of Makalehi island. To see the shape of lake you have to climb to the top of Makalehi island, also from the top you can enjoy the natural scenery of the island environment.

On a fairly challenging slope, you will encounter a bunch of skeletons, the skulls are in a cave. The skeletons are in a wooden boat that is not complete but still visible. The people in Makalehi believed that the skull being a keeper for them since the ancestors of Makalehi. If you arrived at skull cave try to respect the Makalehi people’s respect, so the skulls cannot be pry and take.

Therefore, if you have entered the cave, you must provide the cigarette, light a cigarette, then place it in the front of cave on the cave floor. The burning cigarette would be finished like a smoker smoke a cigarette.
