MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – Fortress of Gurita and Santarosa were occupied by Dutch allies in 1666. First, the type of government was shaped “Kedatuan” has now turned into “Kerajaan” or Kingdom. However, the structure of government has not changed anymore. Bobat Datu Komolang institution established since the reign of Datu Winsulangi can be maintained in the governance process. Kedatuan symbols such as royal flags and military structures has not changed.
In 1670 the evangelical mission by Roman Catholic priests was replaced by evangelical mission of the Dutch. Eight years later, Datu Batahi died in 1678. Then his Son, Monasehiwu, take the reins of Kedatuan government of Siau. Reportedly, King Batahi before marrying Princess (Boki) Maimuna, he first married a noble from Ternate named Princess Donna Anastasia and had a son named Monasehiwu.
Monasehiwu and his sister Raramenusa were baptized by the Dutch evangelist, Reverend Montanus. Baptism is did in a manner of Protestant Christianity. Thus, Monasehiwu was the first king of Siau kingdom who was baptized by the Dutch Evangelist. Baptism name of Monasehiwu was Saverius Jacobus.
Monasehiwu’s wife, Sangiang Tuwohindang. Tuwohindang is a descendant of Jogugu Markus Mahonis. Monasehiwu and Tuwohindang have two children, they are Pandensolang and Bawangungnusa.
In 1680, king Monasehiwu died. He leaded only two years. Komolang Bobatu Datu held a deliberation to appointee Monasehiwu’s brother, he is Raramenusa, he replaces Monasehiwu became Siau King. Siau’s kingdom was in Ondong. Afterwards, Monasehiwu is buried together with nobles at the cemetery complex of the datu, and now stand a church of Immanuel Ondong.
