MANADO, ZONAUATARA.com – Noongan is the name of a village located at western of Minahasa District, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The distance between Manado City to Noongan Village is about three hours.
Just a few minutes away from the village, there is a borderline between Minahasa and Southeast Minahasa in this village.
But behind the region is quite far from Tondano (Minahasa Capital), it stores a lot of potential in it. Both of its nature is famous for its unbeatable coolness, and the potential of plantation is not lost.
“Since a long time a go Noongan has become a target area from outside countries to develop the plantation sector,” said public figure of Noongan, Jefri Pay, on Saturday (16/12/2017).
He told, around 1700 to 1800 Century, this area has been visited by many foreigners. That’s because want to manage the potential of existing plantations in this Kelelondey area.
“This area is famous for coffee and cotton. Even a number of estate lands had leasing with entrepreneurs from Japan and the UK, “said Pay.

He continued, when the Dutch came immediately attracted by its natural coolness. So at the end of the 1800s, the Dutch government also built a hospital in the village. Now known as the Regional General Hospital of Noongan (Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Noongan).
“Why did the Netherlands build a hospital in Noongan because of its natural beauty and coolness so that the patient can get a rest well,” said the former journalist.
Moreover, he said, around of hospital stands a number of shady pine trees so that the breeze of the wind was very audible and make the patients calm in undergoing treatment.
However, he regretted that the potential was not processed by the government in this current time.
