US Ambassador Commitment To Preserve The Strategic Partnership With Indonesia

MANADO, – United States Ambassador to Indonesia Joseph R. Donovan Jr, did trip to North Sulawesi Province to demonstrate the U.S ongoing commitment to the U.S.-Indonesian Strategic Partnership.

The partnership across all segments of Indonesian society, including through military-to-military engagement, promoting commercial ties, educational exchanges, and expanded trade ties.
While in Manado, Ambassador Donovan participated in the opening ceremony of the Cope West 2018 exercise on Monday (13/3/2018). It held at Manado Sam Ratulangi International Airport.

This joint military exercise involves fighter aircraft from the U.S approximately 110 members Air Force and and 150 members of the Indonesian Air Force.

Together, the two militaries engaged in training exercises and joint sorties, to advance interoperability and build on the partnership between U.S. military forces and the Indonesian Air Force.

“By participating in exercises with military forces of our partner nations, such as Indonesia, U.S reinforces its commitment to peace and stability in the region,” said Donovan.

Additionally, the Ambasador also met North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey, and Manado Mayor Vicky Lumentut. They discussed ways to increase commercial ties and educational exchanges.

On the same day, Ambassador Donovan also toured the American Shelf at Universitas Sam Ratulangi (Unsrat). He met with alumni from United States Government-sponsored programs, including Fulbright scholars, YSEALI alumni, and participants in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), along with Unsrat students.

During his remarks, the Ambassador emphasized the benefits of studying in the United States and the positive impacts it has on our bilateral relationship.

“An American education is an investment in your future, and helps strengthen ties between Indonesia and the United States,” said Donovan.

  • Ayam Rica Rica

Ayam rica rice made from chicken and lots of chili that cooked in a thick coconut milk and lime.

  • Woku

Woku is the name of fish and spice mixture that cooked in a clay pot. Because it was cooked in a clay pot for a long time, Woku would have an amazing aroma when it is served warm and make you hungry immediately.

  • Tinutuan

Tinutuan or better known as Manado Porridge. A wet food made from rice, noodles, pumpkin and various vegetables such as corn kernels, spinach, kale, basil, yellow gourd, and gravy. Tinutuan has been the icon of Manado city. It is mostly preferred as a breakfast menu. So, it would be very easy to get this food every morning either it is on a street food stands or even a fancy restaurant. But if you want to taste the best and most original taste of Tinutuan, then you need to try one at Jalan Wakeke.
  • Extreme Culinnary

Manado city is popular for using strange meat on their dish. Such as: snake, pork, dog, bat, rat. You can found these extreme foods in Tomohon city, Kawangkoan village, and Langowan village.

Manado city also has two traditional drink, they are saguer and cap tikus made from palm tree. Just drinks enough as you can, because these both could make drunk.
