GORONTALO, ZONAUTARA.com – In Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, precisely at the top of the hill in Dembe Village. There is a relic historical sites.
The three historical monuments in the shape of the fort. They are Otanaha, Otahiya and Ulupahu.
When Zona Utara journalist team visited this site. In the front of monument, there is a description about the history of each fort. Explained, that Otanaha Castle is the oldest that built in 1525. The structure of the building is made from a mixture of lime and egg of Maleo Bird. The castle named of Otanaha means this building was discovered by Naha. While the syllable ‘Ota’, is synonymous with the word Benteng (Fort). Thus, Otanaha is a Castle discovered by Naha in 1585.
Second, Otahiya Fortress, was discovered by Ohihiya (Naha’s Wife), discovered in the same year also. To reach the fortress, visitors must pass 351 stairs.
The third fortress is called Ulupahu. Ulupahu comes from the word Ulu or Uwole which means ‘milik dari’ (belonging from), while Pahu means’ child. Thus, Ulupahu means Belonging to the Son (Son of Naha and Ohihiya).
The location of this place is about 8 Km from downtown Gorontalo. Beautiful panorama of nature and views of Gorontalo city, and the exotic of Lake Limboto, painted in front of the eyes.
