Tradition of Sitaro Archipelago to Celebrate The New Year

MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – It has become a tradition for the people in the Archipelago of Siau, Tagulandang, and Biaro (Sitaro), at the beginning of the year residents will visit house to house to sing and dance together.

The activity executed during the first week of January. To be more organized, they usually form a group of 10 to 20 members. Each member of the group’s house will be visited interchangeably.

To the contributor of Zona Utara, one of the group coordinators in Lansi Village, Tatahadeng Sub-district, East Siau District, Herdi Derek said, it has become their tradition to do every year.

“Yes, this has become a tradition for us Sitaro residents. Especially we are in Kampung Lansi,” said Herdi.

He added, in order to celebrate new year, they are singing and bouncing together and each member’s home will be visited randomly.
