North Sulawesi is the Lowest Inflation in Sulawesi

MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – Inflation in North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) in January 2018 was 0.49% month to month (mtm) or an annual basis of 1.83% year on year (y on y). Inflation in January 2018 was caused by the volatile food that is vegetable tomato commodity.

The realization is lower than December 2017 of 0.51% (mtm) or on an annualized basis of 2.44% (y on y), and compared to inflation in January 2017 of 1.10% (mtm). Inflation in North Sulawesi in January 2018 was also lower than the national of 0.62% (mtm) or on an annualized basis of 3.25% (y on y).

Head of Representative Office of Bank Indonesia North Sulawesi Province Soekowardojo said spatially, inflation in North Sulawesi is the lowest of all cities and provinces in Sulawesi.

Inflation in January 2018 was mainly caused by volatile food inflation. This group inflation was noted 2.50% (mtm) mainly due to the vegetable tomato commodity which is a major contributor to inflation in January 2018.

“Another group that had inflation in January 2018 was Administered Prices (AP), while core group noted have deflation. The AP group noted inflation of 0.17% (mtm) mainly due to air transportation rates as a result of the mobility people who celebrate Christmas and New Year, “he said.


Meanwhile, the core group noted deflation in January 2018 of 0.04% (mtm).

“This good achievement is inseparable from the roles of various stakeholders and stakeholders,” he added.

In February 2018, Bank Indonesia predicted the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of North Sulawesi will have low inflation or below inflation in January 2018.

February inflation is predicted to be caused chili and onion, which are expected to rise as the impact of bad weather until February.
