MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – Hearing the word Candi (temple), immediately remember the religious buildings of ancient relics which comes from the Hindu Buddhist civilization.
Apparently, in District Maesa, Bitung City, there is a village had named Candi (temple). Journalist Zona Utara has been visit Candi Village, Wednesday (21/2/2018). Apparently, according to the residents the temple have related to the phenomenon of tidal sea water.
“At that time, when has tide we usually shout look out for a Candi,” they said.
But, about hoe it is use the word Candi, they do not know exactly. Unlike disclosed by Arnold Petrus Sumolang (84), a resident from Pakadoodan Village, Maesa District. According to him, the temple has not related with the historical artifacts of the Hindu Buddhist kingdom. But, closely related to the existence a memorial that built by the Japanese Army as a symbol of the sinking Japanese warship in the Lembeh Strait.
“Since i was at here in 1970, the village has named Candi,” he said.
According to him, the foundation of the monument is still there but the memorial is no longer.
“The foundation is 6 Diameter. The monument has been broken and carried by sea waves or already covered in sand,” said Sumolang.
By the monitoring of Zona Utara jounalist, the location has become the place of the fishermen tethered his boat, a place for shipbuilding activities and there is a Bimoli oil company.
Interestingly, we have found traces of the memorial presence. There is a small circle of stone with a diameter of 40 cm, which is estimated to amount more than one but has been buried.
Based on the information of the residents, the word Candi has not related with the building of ancient relics of the worship.
