MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – Asian Ecumenical Youth Assembly and Asia Easter Celebration held in Tondano, Minahasa regency, on Sunday (8/4/2018).
Hundreds of youth from 100 church denominations from 24 countries in Asia including Indonesia were enthusiastically participated in this event, that begin with Worship, at Maesa Tondano Stadium and attended by Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasona Laoly.
After Worship that led by a number priests of North Sulawesi, followed by eater parade start from Maesa Tondano Stadium, walking along the main streets of Tondano Town and finish in Moraya Fort.
The Asian youth delegates also seemed enthusiastic during the parade. Along the way, these participants sang songs and their yells using their language. Interestingly, during the parade, a number of participants also said Selamat Paskah (Happy Easter) Indonesia Language to the comunities in Tondano road.
“Selamat Sore, Selamat paskah,” said the Indian delegation in Bahasa Indonesia, who greeted the audience with a handshake.
The youth delegation also greets residents and shake hands. One of the participants from India, Saji Thomas admitted to being amazed people and nature of North Sulawesi. According to Saji, North Sulawesi has beautiful scenery, as well as friendly people.
Sara is a youth from New Zealend also admire the people and the fresh air in Tondano city.
“People is warm and very welcome. I like the weather because is enough fresh after along walked,” said Sara to Zona Utara journalist.
She also prouds of the young people in North Sulawesi.
“I can see the youth is very energetic while they are in the middle of Stadion Maesa Tondano,” said Sara.
Meanwhile, Committee Chairman Rita Dondokambey-Tamuntuan said, this event was held based on the meeting between Governor of North Sulawesi with Secretary of Christian Conference Celebration (CCA) George Tunakara.
“The special purpose of this event to bring together youth in Asia. Express and discuss issues in emerging Asia. Fostering good relation between Indonesia and foreign countries, as well as promoting religious and cultural life in North Sulawesi,” said Tamuntuan.
According to her, the participants came from 100 church denominations in Asia, with participants from abroad as many 200 and from Indonesia as many as 250 participants.
“This event will last until April 13, 2018,” she said.
