BITUNG, ZONAUTARA.com – Attack a distance of 500 meters from Danowudu Village and through a sandy path and a shallow river, editorial staff of Zona Utara arrived at the Lewet plantation located in Ranowulu District, Bitung City. The leaves of coconut trees on this plantation seemed to dance in the breeze, and welcoming us.
In addition lined up hundreds of coconut trees, there are thousands of palm trees or common in North Sulawesi Province called Seho border with the row of Mahogany trees. The trees are growing thrive.
This plantation is 2 hectares that owned by Meidy Kalangi, he live in Danowudu Village, Ranowulu District, Bitung City.
This 49-year-old man met Zona Utara team in his plantation on Sunday (19/11/2017), said the goal to plant thousands trees of Seho and Mahogany is to maintain environmental sustainability.
“Danowudu is known as a custom land. In this place there is largest springs in Bitung City. These springs must be maintained, in the way of planting,” said Meidy.
Besides planting 3,000 trees of Mahogany, he also planted 2,000 trees of Seho. According to him, in addition to preserving nature, Seho can also provide secondary income.
“Seho tree could produce palm sugar,” he explained.
Meidy planted these trees since 2012. Every day, he has a time to take care these trees.
