MANADO, ZONAUTARA.com – Bilateral exercise between the Indonesian Air Force and the United States (U.S) Pacific Air Force (PACAF), officially begin on Monday (12/3/2018).
Cope West 2018 was opened by Deputy Assistant of Operations Kasma Marsma TNI Anang Nurhadi, that held at the Apron Air Base (Lanud) Sam Ratulangi Manado.
U.S Ambassador to Indonesia Joseph R Donovan, North Sulawesi Provincial Governor Olly Dondokambey and Head of North Sulawesi DPRD Andrei Angouw were attended the opening ceremony of Cope West 2018.
In his speech, Anang said that he was grateful to the Governor of North Sulawesi that has supported the implementation of this bilateral exercise.
According to Anang, this bilateral exercise is to enhance cooperation between U.S and Indonesia.
“I hope this joint exercise can be run safe and successful,” said Anang.
U.S. air force and the Indonesian air force will participate in the Cope West 2018 Exercise in North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia during March 12-23, 2018.
120 personnel from Indonesia and 140 from U.S will be participate this bilateral exercise.
This bilateral exercise is to advance interoperability and build on the partnership between U.S. military forces and the Indonesian air force. And it is also to improve aviation and efficiency capabilities in tactical air operations.
Thrash is a pilot since four years ago from U.S said that they will share the tactical and technique between the personnel of U.S and Indonesia in this exercise.
He also express that he is so happy because of the Cope West exercise held in North Sulawesi.
“I am great because of the very nice people, a beautiful city, and of course the delicious food,” said Thrash to Zona Utara journalist.
